Oracle offers the “Oracle Database Appliance” (ODA) with the “Engineered Systems” hardware family. The ODA has been specially designed and manufactured for the operation of Oracle databases. It is ideally suited as a high-performance and consolidation platform. All components of the ODA, from the hardware, drivers and operating system to the Oracle software, are precisely coordinated and optimized.
The Monitoring Module supervises the ODA and all its components holistically and seamlessly. Starting with the hardware, e.g. RAM status, CPU, network cards, RAID controller incl. internal disks, fans, power supply and much more. Thanks to SSD/NVMe I/O, the ODA is highly performant. These storage components require special attention. The service life of the SSD/NVMe is limited. The Monitoring Module determines their health status and can predict when they will need to be replaced.
Of course, the monitoring module monitors all software components such as the operating system, grid infrastructure including ASM and all active databases.
